From julieparise
NEW YORK (CBS 2) – Hourglass figures and statement jewelry were favorites among the glamorous attendees at Sunday night’s Emmy awards – but that’s not to say there weren’t a few risky wardrobe choices.
CBS 2’s Dana Tyler takes a look at the fashion hits and misses.
First, the misses.
What was January Jones thinking? Some found her Versace gown with the pointy top and uneven bottom downright comical.
“It kind of had a Jetsons-type silhouette,” said Dawn Yanek, Editor-in-Chief of Life & Style Weekly. “The top was cone-shape and Madonna-like.”
Also on Life & Style’s list of gowns-gone-wrong was Anna Paquin’s dress.
“It basically featured gold armor on her shoulders,” said Yanek. “It was definitely a risky style, one that didn’t necessarily pay off.”
But Yanek said overall, it was a night for classic Hollywood style.
“The color navy blue, also embellishments and a-symmetrical, really dramatic necklines,” she said. “And statement jewelry made a big comeback.”
Wardrobe hits included Glee star Leah Michelle.
“She looked absolutely gorgeous in that navy blue Oscar de la Renta gown,” Yanek said.
Blonde bombshell Claire Danes also did it right in Swarovski-encrusted Armani gown.
“She just looked like perfect,” Yanek said.
And Emmy winner Kyra Sedgewick kept it real by keeping it simple.
“She didn’t overdo it with jewelry, didn’t overdo it with hair and make up,” said Yanek. “And of course she had the best accessory – Kevin Bacon as her husband.”
Hourglass shapes were popular – and so was wearing white.
“When you’re Kim Kardashian and you’re a woman with killer curves, it’s easy to go over the top in the fashion category.” said Yanek. “But she looked like an absolute goddess.”
Yanek said the standout among the men was the stand-up hair on Oscar winner Al Pacino. He won a Best Actor emmy for his role as a real-life Dr. Jack Kevorkian.
“Al Pacino can do whatever he wants, because he’s Al Pacino,” Yanek said. “But the hair is getting a little crazy. He might wanna reign that in for next year.”
In the meantime, we’ll see what fashion trends end up going from the red carpet to a store near you.

Australian Fashion

The dress you wear, the shoes you run with, and the hats that defend you from the sun not only help you in shielding yourself from the forces of nature ; they also serve as your statement of fashion that everybody else has been following also. Folk appear to be flexible to the indisputable fact that each time fashion icons wear a different set of garments, they should wear the articles as well. These trends may wear down and die down like clockwork, but people don't appear to mind. Fashion icons all around the world have been busy everyday in assembling different sets of attire that would make the style statement of the day, the week, month or even year. These trends help folk in building their confidence and showing folks that they've a taste for these trends and they are also able in putting together different pieces of clothing and it might look great. Style statements from the US, Europe and Australia are quickly gaining on one another on a race to the top of the world of fashion. Australian Fashion differs greatly from time sector to time section and climate to climate. Sydney fashion could be different to the fashion in Melbourne. Thru the years, Australian Fashion is sometimes viewed as the rough cowboy sort of fashion. With the flick Crocodile Dundee, folks used to suspect that it is not uncommon for Australian men to wear craggy leather shoes and khakis along with that peculiar hat of Crocodile Dundee. Nonetheless they don't realize that not every part of Australia is swamps. There happen to be parts where folk see the trend as company looks like the ones in Sydney. Sydney fashion thru the years are viewed as the preppy look ; with the business corporations and the benefit of having the Opera House as a holiday maker spot, folks be aware of their looks to make the best impression on the holiday makers. Australian fashion statements are way more commonly spotted in Sydney ; that's the reason why it's common to associate Sydney fashion to Australian Fashion.
What's notable to the style statements in Australia is the undeniable fact that there are influences in the designs e. G the English descent. Since the Australians have certain English ties, the fashion thru the years has an important English touch to it ; e. G the use of hats with coats and the trendy purses for ladies. Also, Australians favour the bow tie instead of the ordinary tie ; also a English preference. Sydney fashion has been definitely a mirrored image of the Brit touch with the ladies favoring the blazers and slacks ; an important business clothes for ladies in the UK. And finally, the favorable reply of children to shorts and leather shoes are a typical sight in Britain . Irrespective of what the fashion trend is, it cannot be denied a place's fashion trend may have influences from their past.
However, with the showy fashion trends these days, it is rare the influences would wear off. The Sydney fashion's difference in the future would rely on the pliability and comfort the future trends would provide.

Red Carpet Fashion:2010 Teenager Choice Awards

Ashley Greene to Nina Dobrev, Hollywood's hottest young stars rocked the red carpet yesterday evening for the 2010 Teenager Choice Awards. While the show doesn't air till tonight ( sucks, we all know ), we've got the products on what our favourites wore to the event. So, if you would like to get a preview of what is in store on the fashion front check our catalogues of looks below. "Ramona and Beezus" star Selena Gomez is maybe one of the cutest gals around, and while we loved her curls on the red carpet, we assumed her draped white BCBG Max Azaria dress was a standout by itself.

The back also caught our attention immediately with some cool slivers of silver. It's difficult to experiment on the red carpet ( are you able to imagine the pressure? ), so we have to give additional credit to the girls that do it, and do it competently at that, like Kristin Bell. Kristin appeared at the TCA's in a multi layered, red ( or is that orange? ) Stella McCartney dress that was both classy and young. The dress was a touch more formal than the event requested, but the lightness of the hue made it fit right in. Talking off risks , we actually wish Ashley Green had taken one before settling on a halter-less, light pink Valentino dress with black and beige accents. While the dress had different layers of work, there had been nothing about it that actually stood out for us. Her hair ( she was wearing it loose and barely wavy ) and makeup, on the other hand, left quite an impression! "Pretty Tiny Liars" star Lucy Hale arrived yesterday evening in a blue Paula Ka dress, complete with stones round the neckline and a golden belt buckle.

We believed her look was excellent for the event, but we seriously might have done without the Ruthie Davis spiked booties.
Lea Michele is familiar with our best dressed lists, and the girl proved herself once again yesterday evening when she appeared in a glittery, embroidered and well, all-around-awesome Naeem Khan dress. Seriously, her fitted green and beige dress was fully unique, and as normal, that made it memorable. Now, we are customarily not a massive fan of a lot of sequins ( they remind us of skating outfits ), but Nina made us rethink yesterday evening when she was wearing a fitted, pale pink dress with silver sparkling accents. The girl looked remarkable, and we are certain that only she could pull of that look.

Sex And The City: Porn for the fashion set

Carrie Bradshaw by Sara Jessica Parker
Source: Michiko Hylands & Clifton Piper

It was the perfect antidote to a cold and dreary Monday in Auckland - the premiere screening of the much anticipated Sex And The City 2.
Sex And The City is like porn for those addicted to fashion, with countless outfit changes and every kind of amazing designer shoe and bag a girl could ever dream of.
The fashionistas were out in full force that rainy night at Sylvia Park, secretly checking each other out while swilling back delicious Moet et Chandon champers, which was flowing on tap.
The movie is pure hedonistic escapism. It's so incredibly over-the-top and that was the reason why we were all there.
We all need to inject a bit of fantasy into our lives and the four film characters, Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte, certainly live the dream.
They get to wear the most fabulous designer clothes and accessories, eat at amazing restaurants and bars and get to travel to exotic locations such as Abu Dhabi to stay in hotels that cost $US22,000 a night!

The clothes
We loved Carrie's wardrobe the best (and of course her famous walk-in-wardrobe itself!)
Carrie Bradshaw lives and breathes fashion and takes fashion risks that she gets away with.
Her eclectic style mixes vintage with haute couture pieces and she always looks glam. Even when Carrie's at home "relaxing" she always has something fab on and, naturellement, always paired back with sky-high heels!
Looks we loved
The dress Carrie wears when she goes out to dinner with ex-flame Aidan - by Emilio Pucci.
The amazing white dress Carrie wears in the opening scene is a vintage Halston heritage piece, worn with a stunning necklace by Solange Azagury-Partridge, an amazing gold and metal clutch bag from Chanel, Mykita & Bernhard Wilhelm shades and the most fabulous Christian Louboutin sparkling gold "Pigalle' heels! Wow!
The ball gown/tee look Carries wears at the Abu Dhabi souk is tres Carrie and tres Patricia Field (SATC 's stylist/costume designer). It's a shirt worn with a Dior tee over the top and a purple taffeta underskirt from a Zac Posen ballgown. Topped with sexy Manolo Blahnik shoes.
And don't forget the shoes! Our faves were:
Christian Louboutin "Bridget Strass" heels.
Brian Atwood "Loca" studded purple pumps.
Christian Louboutin gold "Pigalle" glitter heels.
Forget the critics who are all slamming SATC 2 and go and see it for yourselves and enjoy!

Fashion of the Week

I love Blake Lively because of her taste in fashion. She’s wearing her fabulous  Marchesa dress.

Dita Von Teese looks good in her stunning Elie Saab Spring 2010 red gown. The cap sleeve gown which she pairs with two tone Chanel heels has an exposed back- like the front is not sexy enough.

Emmy Rossum is wearing sexy red Dona Karan off-the-shoulder dress, I’m fixated by her Donna Karan heels. The black strappy heels are not only feathered but they are also jewel accented just to add to the wow factor of her look.

Why Are Prada Sunglasses So Expensive?

When thinking of the buy of a hot pair of Prada sunglasses, many consumers cannot help but experience a minimal bit of label surprise. Still, even the the majority of economical shoppers admit that you do sometimes have what you pay for. With Prada, what you get is an impression in which a person simply can't put a price label on. For some it's worth a number of extra money in order to be ahead of the curve in terms of trend and elegance.

It's Prada

To put this only, Prada eyeglasses are costly because... they are Prada. Generally there are some brands that tend to be so ingrained in our lifestyle that their brand alone raises their value. In the design world, any kind of accessory that carries the Prada logo is likely to be more costly. This is primarily based on the corporation's outstanding reputation and nothing else. While several might scoff at this concept other folks see that Prada has a good reputation for a reason.
